Maybe not the worst thing to happen, but:
"Yet another victim of these economic times, Waterford Crystal has laid off 480 workers in Ireland and 'temporarily' closed the visitor center. This effectively ends their manufacturing in Ireland. Unless a new buyer is found for the company, Ireland will lose its iconic lead crystal design center, founded in 1783."
